The EM-400 - Is just right, not to small not to big
After I ran out of head room with my EM-200 I needed more. I never even considered other mounts, if you owned a Tak you would understand. Anyway for an old man, I have no problem setting this up in the field. They certainly designed it right. It comes in three pieces with the heaviest piece easy to mount with no fear of it coming loose. The polar scope is even better with the 400 after I realized there is a mistake in the manual. For Houston the offset is -5 not + 5 as stated in the manual. Other than that, this is in my estimation the ultimate transportable scope, 85 lb load photographic, easy and fast setup and fantastic Tak quality throughout. Go To is dead on (requires good polar alignment) Tak say's that the tracking is +/-3.5arc sec. On still nights with good seeing, the traking graph in Maxim was virtually a straight line in BOTH axes (less than 3arc sec) This mount is a must buy for astroimagers. The proof is in the pudding see http://www.oneilladvertising.com/Resources/hobby2.html.
